Lisle, IL – The Lisle Park District has been awarded a $600,000 grant through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources' Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) program for the renovation of Tate Woods Park, located near the corner of Warrenville Road and Yackley Avenue in Lisle, Illinois.

For well over 30 years, OSLAD has been one of the state's most significant grant programs, raising the quality of life in communities throughout Illinois by supporting continued investment in local park and recreation projects. This year, nearly $55 million in state grants are being awarded for 111 park projects throughout Illinois to help communities acquire land and develop recreation opportunities. The Lisle Park District is thrilled to be chosen as a recipient of this grant to help fund renovations to Tate Woods Park this summer.

As Lisle Park District's Director of Parks & Recreation states, "This funding could not have come at a better time or for a more deserving project! The amount of neighbor participation in the planning process and the community anticipation towards this renovated park make this one of the more exciting projects in recent history. With plans for six dedicated pickleball courts, a brand-new playground with poured in place rubber surfacing, a picnic shelter with a permanent ping pong table and bags games, new basketball court, expanded parking, and accessibility improvements to the existing baseball field, Tate Woods Park is sure to be a source of pride of the entire Lisle Park District for years to come."

The Tate Woods Park renovation project will be open for bidding later this February. Construction is projected to begin in May of this year with completion by the end of summer. If you have questions about the Tate Woods Park renovation project, please contact Director of Parks & Recreation, Dan Garvy, at dgarvy@lisleparkdistrict.org, or visit the Lisle Park District website at lisleparkdistrict.org.
