The Lisle Park District has been awarded a $600,000 grant through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources' Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) program for the renovation of Tate Woods Park, located near the corner of Warrenville Road and Yackley Avenue in Lisle, Illinois.

We're excited to launch a sweet initiative that will allow us to show our support and appreciation to the brave men and women serving in our armed forces. Please bring in any leftover Halloween candy between November 1 and November 20 to the Lisle Recreation Center and we will donate it to Operation Support our Troops here in Lisle.
Toothpaste, mouth wash and dental floss are also appreciated and needed for the troops! Feel free to add these items to the candy donation box.

The Village of Lisle will be collecting pumpkins for composting on Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 9:00am-12:00pm in the Village Hall Parking Lot, 925 Burlington Avenue in Lisle.
Rather than placing pumpkins with other curbside refuse that will be landfilled, residents are encouraged to drop off their pumpkins for composting.
Pumpkins are full of nutrients that are good for the soil and are 90% water. As most of the pumpkins processed in the U.S. are grown in Illinois, composting pumpkins here helps keep the water and nutrients local.
Only bare pumpkins will be accepted. Please remove any candles, yarn, stickers, or other decorations prior to drop-off. Any bags or boxes used to transport pumpkins cannot be composted.

Our Strategic Master Plan was adopted by the Park Board on April 20, 2023. Our resident newsletter highlights our new mission, vision and core values, public input summary, top 5 priorities, and big moves, all of which were developed as a culmination of the Strategic Master Plan 's public engagement process and consultant-led discussions. These guiding principles will serve as the foundation of the Lisle Park District 's decision making and resource allocation processes. A copy was mailed out to all Lisle residents. This notice is to inform you that the Ohio Street / Ohio Court / Short Street resurfacing project will begin performing roadway replacement activities beginning on Thursday, June 22. Weather permitting, this work is expected to last a few weeks, and will consist of the removal and replacement of the asphalt surface. Temporary lane restrictions, traffic detours and delays should be expected.

The Lisle Park District and Lisle Police Department have been made aware of recent coyote sightings in and around the parks and residential neighborhoods. As a reminder, coyotes are a part of our natural environment, and while they try to avoid human contact, they are more visible this time of year.

As tempting as a frozen pond may be for ice skaters and winter adventurers, the Lisle Park District prohibits anyone from recreating on frozen pond surfaces in the parks. Unlike natural lakes, the ponds within Lisle Park District sites serve as stormwater management facilities designed to collect runoff, even in the winter.

Young oak trees will soon be popping up in Lisle parks thanks to the Lisle Park District's Oak Tree Regenerative Project. Oaks support hundreds of beneficial insects and including more trees is part of Lisle Park District's pollinator recovery plan. The DuPage Monarch Project is pleased to announce Lisle Park District has received the 2022 Jane Foulser Habitat Award for undertaking an innovative, multi-year project of germinating hundreds of acorns and planting young oak trees throughout their parks in the next several years.

On Saturday, August 27, the Lisle Park District will officially unveil the new Community Park Fitness Trail with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 8:30am. All are welcome to attend to celebrate this new leisure opportunity available in Community Park at 1825 Short Street in Lisle.

The Lisle Park District recognized Bob Goodwin for his 39 years of service actively preserving and enriching the history of Lisle at the meeting of the Lisle Park District Board of Park Commissioners in December of 2021. Bob was presented with a plaque by Superintendent of Recreation, Jon Pratscher, who oversees operations at The Museums at Lisle Station Park where Bob has volunteered his time and knowledge to conserve the heritage and culture of the greater Lisle community.

On Saturday, September 11, the Lisle Park District will officially open the Lisle Community Park Boat Launch for public use with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:00am. All are welcome to celebrate the Lisle Park District's new public boat launch intended for use of personal, non-motorized boats or floating vessels, such as kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards. The boat launch is in Lisle Community Park just south of Short Street and west of the Short Street bridge and accessible from the parking lot located near ball field #1 at 1825 Short Street in Lisle.

The Lisle Park District Board of Park Commissioners will be accepting letters of interest and qualifications for Park Commissioner until Friday, June 25, 2021.
The Park Board will be conducting interviews and considering an appointment to fill the remaining term of recently retired Commissioner Don Cook. On Thursday, April 15, the Lisle Park District Board of Park Commissioners presented a resolution to name the new Parks Department Vehicle & Equipment Storage Facility "Don's Garage" in grateful recognition of Don Cook's twenty-three years of dedicated and accomplished service to the residents of the Lisle Park District.

The Lisle Park District is hosting it's very first Film Festival outdoors on Saturday, June 5, from 8:00 until 10:00pm in Lisle Community Park, located at 1825 Short Street.
The film festival started as a collaboration with Lisle resident and small business owner, Beth Lesniak, of Shiny Squirrel Art Studio, Inc. With Beth's input and vision in mind, the Lisle Park District developed the event's concept and created guidelines for the festival, including film categories, contest entry rules, and sponsorship opportunities to encourage support and involvement in the arts program from local individuals and businesses.

The Lisle Park District has chosen its annual photography contest winners, which showcase the unique perspective of patrons enjoying local parks during a year when open, outdoor space played an increasingly important role to many throughout the U.S. and greater Lisle community. In fact, three in five U.S. residents – more than 190 million – visited a park, trail, public open space or recreation facility at least once during the first three months of the pandemic.*
